This personalized, prenatal lactation consultation is a great way to gather all the info you’ll need to feel confident and ready when your baby arrives. In this private, in-home session, we’ll start by reviewing your health and obstetric history and going over your birth preferences. We'll also take a look at your breast anatomy (don’t worry, it’s all about getting ready to feed your little one!) and talk through your infant-feeding goals, hopes, fears, and any worries that might be on your mind. This is your space—no judgment, just plenty of support and care.

Designed for expecting families between 33–36 weeks of pregnancy, partners and other support persons are more than welcome to join in. 

By the end of our session, you’ll walk away knowing:

• The wonders of human milk and the basics of breastfeeding physiology

• The power of skin-to-skin contact 

• The beauty of the breast crawl and the importance of that first feed

• Positioning and attachment (without overthinking it!)

• How to decode your baby’s cues

• How to tell if your baby is getting enough milk

• What to do when growth spurts come knocking 

• How to handle common early breastfeeding challenges like a pro

• The art of hand expression 

• Finger-syringe and cup feeding techniques

• How to take care of YOU (self-care is crucial for breastfeeding moms)

• How to know when it’s time to call in the experts for support (because there's no shame in asking for help!)

Together, we’ll make sure your breastfeeding journey is as smooth and joyful as possible—because both you and baby deserve that!

Need an advocate by your side? I offer in-person lactation support as soon as possible after birth—ideally within the first 24 hours. While hospitals offer lactation support, it can sometimes feel rushed or not fully tailored to your unique needs. What I can do is to provide a brief but focused visit, gently supporting you both with skin-to-skin care, positioning, attachment, and latch. My goal is to honor this sacred time by giving you the extra care and attention you deserve, while respecting your family time and being mindful of not interfering with medical procedures or overstaying my welcome.

During our first home visit, we’ll take a close look at how feeding is going for both you and your baby. We’ll start by reviewing your health and obstetric history, along with your recent birth experience. Next, we’ll discuss your feeding goals, any hopes you have, and any concerns you’d like to share. I’ll do an oral assessment of the baby and observe a feeding session, ensuring effective milk transfer and that both you and your baby are comfortable throughout the process. Additionally, I’ll check in on how things are going at home—your daily routine, the support you have, available community resources, your mental well-being, and your family environment. This will help me create a personalized care plan that works for you, addresses any challenges you may be facing, and ensures you’re supported in every aspect of your recovery and care.

Initial intakes are best scheduled within the first week. 

This service includes:

• A detailed, breastfeeding care plan based on our work together, which may include links to resources and referrals to specialists, as needed

• Lactation summary notes emailed to you (and your medical provider, as needed) within 24 hours

• Ongoing e-messaging support, day or night, until week 6

During this follow-up visit, we’ll check how things have been going since our initial consultation, address any ongoing issues, fine-tune techniques, and explore new strategies to help you reach your infant-feeding goals. And just as importantly, we’ll celebrate all the progress and successes you’ve made along the way!

This service includes:

• A detailed, breastfeeding follow-up care plan based on our work together, which may include links to resources and referrals to specialists, as needed

• Lactation summary notes emailed to you (and your medical provider, as needed) within 24 hours

Up to 40 minutes, via Zoom

In some cases, virtual support can be a wonderful option, especially when distance and other barriers make in-person visits challenging. I bring the same level of care and attention to virtual consults as I would during a home visit, providing you with flexible, remote guidance that meets your unique needs.

This service includes:

• A detailed, breastfeeding care plan based on our work together, which may include links to resources and referrals to specialists, as needed, sent to you at the end of the consult

• Lactation summary notes emailed to you within 24 hours
